Where is this

We welcome you to Harford’s “Southern County.”  We take great pride in our communities - many of them based on the water’s edge of the Bush River and Chesapeake Bay, where families enjoy numerous water sports and recreational facilities.  The Aberdeen Proving Ground/Edgewood Area is known as the "Global Leader in Chemical and Biological Research and Technology" attracting the high tech businesses and skilled workers responsible for guiding our nation in the development of defense programs.

Located near Interstate I-95 and the historic Route 40 corridor, Harford’s Southern County is attracting new businesses to its Enterprise Zone - designated by the Maryland Department of Business & Economic Development.  Through innovative programs, our Southern County is proving itself to be a progressive community where technology and entrepreneurial spirit is not only growing . . . but thriving.

Harford’s Southern County offers both suburban and rural lifestyles with a variety of housing and shopping opportunities to meet any personal need.  We embrace our diverse population of people living and working here and invite you to come see what makes us special.

"Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek."     - Barack Obama

This quote by President Barack Obama embraces the change we are feeling in Edgewood and the surrounding communities of Harford's Southern County.

BEE HAPPY! The Joy of Keeping Bees

In 2007, comedian Jerry Seinfeld voiced the character of Barry B. Benson, a worker bee in the computer-animated film entitled “Bee Movie.”  The movie illustrated the fragile balance between humans and honeybees, foreshadowing the imminent collapse of our nation’s food supply if we lost our friendly bee-pollinators. Without bees, our garden produce will fail to germinate, and although the film had a happy ending, we actually may not be as fortunate.

Honeybees are increasingly threatened by the excessive use of pesticides and herbicides.  There has been a world-wide decline in bee colonies that ultimately may threaten our food supply – and will lead to a very unhappy ending for all of us.
